The Deputy Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful and profitable running of Intrepid & Wildland Trekking Co. trips to the standards stipulated by Intrepid and Wildland Trekking’s policies and practices. The position provides the main point of contact for field staff working in the Utah branch as well as the Operations teams.  

The Deputy Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance of all trips, including maintaining and operating a branch warehouse location, and performing business administrative duties related to the branch. In addition, the DOM supports the contracting, reservations, sales and other functions for the branch. They may also be expected to perform other duties from time to time which may fall outside the scope of these responsibilities as business circumstances dictate. 

This is a full-time position based out of our office in St George, Utah. 

 
A passion for travel is a must! In addition to that you’ll bring with you:

  • Travel industry work experience, preferably as a tour leader or guide 

  • Extensive knowledge of the field area  

  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) in English  

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel and previous experience with a CRM system; Salesforce preferred  

  • Strong supervisory, facilitation and organization skills  

  • Office duties required, ability to lift up-to 20 pounds and work at a computer station up to 40 hours-per-week  

  • Meet company and DOT driving requirements and maintain a valid Driver’s License  

  • Must be at least 21 years of age  

  • Maintain a current Wilderness First Responder, CPR & Epi Certification  

  • Must pass a background check  

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be available for random drug screens (CA only)
