The world needs more Intrepid people: 

he Deputy Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful and profitable delivery of Intrepid and Wildland Trekking Co. trips, ensuring adherence to the standards outlined in both companies’ policies and practices. This position serves as the main point of contact for field staff in the Pacific Northwest branch as well as the Operations teams.  

The Deputy Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance of Pacific Northwest trips, including maintaining and operating a branch warehouse and performing business administrative duties related to the branch. In addition, the DOM supports contracting, reservations, sales, and other branch functions. They may also be expected to perform other duties as required, which may fall outside the scope of these responsibilities depending on business needs. 

This job is a full-time position based in Lacey, WC.  A willingness to maintain a flexible schedule and work weekends and/or holidays is necessary.   

Some of the experience you’ll bring with you may include: 

  • Extensive knowledge of the field area; Northwest USA 

  • Travel industry work experience, preferably as a tour leader or guide or operations manager; 

  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) in English 

  • Experience in administrative tasks with solid skills in Microsoft Office including word and excel; Previous experience with a CRM system/ Salesforce preferred 

  • Strong supervisory, facilitation and organization skills 

  • Ability to lift up-to 20 pounds and work at a computer station up to 40 hours-per-week 

  • Meet company and DOT driving requirements and maintain a valid Driver’s License; Must be at least 21 years of age and successfully pass a motor vehicle and background check 

  • Maintain a current Wilderness First Responder, CPR & Epi Certification
