Deputy Operations Manager, Iceland
At Intrepid, unforgettable trips don’t happen by chance – they’re shaped by people on the ground who know the destination inside out, can juggle the details, and genuinely care about delivering great experiences. We’re looking for a Deputy Operations Manager, Iceland to help make that happen.
Based in Iceland, you’ll provide hands-on operational and managerial support to the Operations Manager and wider management team, helping ensure the smooth, safe and profitable delivery of Intrepid group trips and other travel products. You’ll play a key role in day-to-day operations, supporting leaders, solving problems as they arise, and upholding the standards set out in Intrepid’s Service Level Agreement.
This is a varied, fast-paced role suited to someone with strong regional knowledge, a background in tour leading or operations, and the confidence to step in, make decisions, and keep things moving – even when priorities shift.
Some of the experience you’ll bring with you may include:
- Extensive travel experience in Iceland, with a strong understanding of the destination and local operating environment
- Travel industry experience, ideally as a Tour Leader or in an operational role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Icelandic
- Experience coaching, training, or supporting leaders and teams (desirable)
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Sound decision-making skills and the confidence to work independently when required
- A strong commitment to customer satisfaction and high-quality trip delivery
- Alignment with Intrepid’s Responsible Travel philosophy and style of travel
- High computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including being on-call outside office hours and attending operational functions when needed
You’ll also be comfortable working with a diverse group of leaders, understand regional culture and business etiquette, and bring a collaborative mindset – plus a sense of humour and a smile when things get busy.
If you’re passionate about Iceland, thrive in operational environments, and want to play a key role in delivering exceptional small group adventures, we’d love to hear from you.
* Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and we reserve the right to close the application period early if we find the right candidate.
