Fleet & Equipment Manager, Southern Africa
We’re looking for a Fleet & Equipment Manager to help keep Intrepid Southern Africa’s trips running safely, smoothly and reliably across the region.
Working closely with the General Manager, Southern Africa, you’ll take ownership of our fleet and touring equipment, making sure everything is well‑maintained, compliant and ready for daily operations. You’ll lead a small team of maintenance assistants and won’t be afraid to roll your sleeves up when needed, always keeping safety, efficiency and longer‑term fleet planning front of mind.
You’ll also help improve how we do things, using data, technology and critical thinking to manage maintenance schedules, drive cost efficiencies, and respond quickly when plans change - all while supporting Intrepid’s responsible and sustainable travel approach.
This role is ideal for someone with solid fleet and equipment management experience, strong mechanical knowledge, and the confidence to make well‑judged, strategic decisions while working closely with others in a fast‑moving operational environment.
This is a full‑time, permanent role based onsite in Johannesburg.
Some of the experience you’ll bring with you may include:
-
A valid C1 driver’s licence with PDP (non‑negotiable)
-
Proven experience in fleet and equipment management
-
Driving experience in large commercial passenger vehicles
-
Sound mechanical knowledge, particularly with heavy commercial vehicles
-
Strong understanding of vehicle safety, compliance, storage, quality control and stock management
-
Experience leading a small team, with the ability to delegate and create a positive working environment
-
Strong administrative skills and confidence working with operational controls
-
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
-
A safety‑first mindset and the ability to perform well under pressure
-
Valid work permit for non‑South African citizens
You’ll bring strong leadership and communication skills, a proactive and solutions‑focused approach, and the flexibility needed to support a fast‑paced operation. If this sounds like the right next step for you, we’d love to hear from you!
