We are Intrepid

The world needs more Intrepid people:

We’re looking for a Deputy Operations Manager to join our Southern Africa team on a permanent, fulltime basis. This is a handson operational role supporting the smooth, safe and successful delivery of our trips across the region.

Working closely with the Operations Manager, you’ll be right at the heart of daytoday operations – coordinating logistics, supporting teams on the ground, and stepping in to resolve live trip issues when needed. It’s a role for someone who enjoys being close to the action and making things happen.

This role is ideal for an experienced travel professional who knows Southern Africa well, is confident making decisions, and thrives in a fastmoving environment where no two days look the same.

Some of the experience you’ll bring with you may include:

  • Extensive travel experience in Southern Africa and a genuine passion for the region

  • Previous experience in the travel industry, ideally as a Group Leader or within operations

  • A qualification in Tourism Management or a related field

  • Strong communication skills in English (South African languages are a bonus)

  • Solid organisational skills, reliability and a strong customer focus

  • Confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel

  • The ability to take ownership, work independently and stay calm under pressure

  • Experience supporting or overseeing emergency or highimpact situations

You’ll also align strongly with Intrepid’s style of travel and Responsible Travel philosophy, enjoy working collaboratively across teams, and be flexible to support operations outside regular hours when required.

If you love problem
solving, being close to the detail, and playing a key role in delivering exceptional travel experiences, we’d love to hear from you!
