We are Intrepid

The world needs more Intrepid people:

Join one of Australia’s most immersive outback locations as a Chef at Arkaba, where food is not just a part of the journey, it’s a highlight. At Arkaba, we're looking for two passionate Chefs to help create exceptional culinary experiences in one of the country's most unique remote lodge destinations. This is an opportunity to combine your love of food, hospitality, and adventure while living and working in a truly unforgettable location.

In this role, you'll play a key part in keeping both guests and team members fuelled and inspired. You'll lead the preparation of varied, nutritious staff meals while supporting our talented kitchen team in delivering outstanding guest dining experiences that showcase native ingredients, local produce and the stories of the region. From menu planning and food ordering to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation, you'll help create memorable moments through food while contributing to a collaborative and supportive lodge environment.

We're looking for a qualified chef with previous experience in a similar role, a strong understanding of Australian cuisine and a genuine passion for hospitality. You'll be a team player who thrives in a remote setting, enjoys building connections with guests and colleagues, and takes pride in delivering exceptional experiences every day. In return, you'll have the chance to develop your career with a leading luxury wilderness operator while experiencing life in one of Australia's most extraordinary destinations.

This full-time, permanent position is based on-site in the breathtaking Flinders Ranges of South Australia and is paying between $75-77,000 per year, alongside free staff accommodation on site.

Some of the experience you’ll bring with you may include:

  • Excellent technical knowledge and experience in varied cooking techniques

  • In depth knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards

  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure

  • Strong relationship and guest management skills

  • Passion for delivering high quality food and memorable guest experiences
