In Washington, DC, our Urban Adventures tours uncover the stories behind the monuments. From iconic landmarks and vibrant neighbourhoods to the hidden histories and local food spots that many visitors miss, our guides bring the capital to life in unexpected ways. Our travellers don’t just visit the city’s famous sites -  they experience the culture, people, and stories that make DC truly unique.

If you share our passion for tours focused on sustainable, local, and immersive travel experiences for people from all over the world - this might be the perfect opportunity for you.

 

This is a part-time seasonal role in DC. The hourly wage is $26.50 USD plus gratuities.

 

The world needs more Intrepid people:  

 

Do you dream of inspiring travelers and helping them fall in love with their destination by immersing them in your local culture and exposing them to real life experiences? Being a Tour Leader with Intrepid, you will do just that!  

  

Every day will be different, but every day you will:  

  

  • Have passion and knowledge for and of your destination  

  • A passion for travel, food, culture, and/or history  

  • Excellent story-telling skills  

  • Excellent communication skills with individuals and group of people  

  • Empathy and emotional intelligence  

  • High standards customer experience  

  • An understanding of and belief in Intrepid’s Responsible Travel philosophy and Core Values  

  • Outstanding organizational management skills  

  • Problem solving and decision-making capacities  

  • A friendly, engaging, and energetic personality 

 

To be considered you may also have:  

  

  • Excellent communication in English and ideally one other local language (the more the better!)    

  • Strong customer service experience and experience in developing a rapport with a broad range of traveller's  

  • Ability to manage trip budget and handle sums of money   

  • Map reading skills and a good sense of direction 

  • Requires a Valid Driver's License

 

Additional Skills & Attributes: 

  

  • A willingness to work flexible hours according to the groups needs 

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates recommended
