Tour Leader, New Zealand
Do you dream of inspiring travellers whilst kayaking Abel Tasman National Park, hiking the Tongariro crossing or flying over Franz Josef glacier? As a tour leader your days will be filled with creating unforgettable moments for travellers and showcasing the amazing things New Zealand has to offer, all whilst getting paid to do so. You’ll be working alongside an awesome team in a company with guides at the heart of what we do, therefore providing industry leading training and fantastic development and growth opportunities. If you are someone who remains calm under pressure, has sharp problem-solving abilities with an ability to wear a smile to work each morning, we want you.
Every day will be different, but every day you will:
-
Drive a group of travellers around New Zealand, providing them with local information and amazing customer service, whether guiding a bike tour along the Otago Rail Trail or leading a hike along the Queen Charlotte track, you’ll create memories our customers will never forget
-
Ensure the safety and well-being of your group, at times you will have to assist in difficult situations whilst remaining calm and professional. A traveller may lose their passport, need medical attention, or there may be a clash of personalities...you will be the first point of call
-
Host, lead and execute tours to budget, following the itinerary and fulfil your administrative duties
-
Live your passion for travel and share your love of it with our travellers. Every step of the way you’ll embody our core values of real, impactful, ambitious and together

The important stuff:
-
This is a casual position, which will give you flexibility in when and how you work. We run the vast majority of our tours across peak season (Early October to mid-April), so we are seeking candidates available for training at the end of Aug and available to work from Sept/Oct until the end of this period
-
As you can imagine, some days on trips are long, and require a decent level of fitness alongside lots of chatting, so it is important you are both physically and mentally prepared
-
You must be comfortable with spending periods of time away from home, examples of our NZ itineraries here: https://www.intrepidtravel.com/au/new-zealand
