Trek/ Tour Leader, Nepal
Do you love Nepal and enjoy sharing its stories with others? As a Trek/ Tour Leader with Intrepid, you’ll use your passion for your community to educate and inspire our travelers, immersing them in the local culture – so they’ll want to return, again and again!
With Intrepid you’ll be ensuring that the work you do has meaning; Intrepid focuses on giving back and investing in the local communities, which is why we use local leaders, local operators and ensure we give back to the destination at every opportunity.
As a Trek/ Tour Leader with us you will:
- Be the face of Intrepid and provide exceptional customer service
- Host, lead and execute tours on budget, following the itinerary and ensuring the overall successful operation of each trip
- Ensure safety and well-being of the travelers, assisting with any difficult situations that may arise
- Tell stories, deliver travel advice and organise customers’ experience
- Reconfirming suppliers, hotels, activities and doing administration along the way
To be considered you must have:
- Full rights to work across the region
- Previous Tour/Trek Leading experience across Nepal
- Valid Advanced First Aid Course with AMS (if available), completed prior to starting with us
- You must have trekking or tour guide training completed and bearing a valid license issued by the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM). Preference will be given to those who bear both licenses.
- Excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other local language (the more the better!)
- Great availability during our peak seasons of Spring and Autumn to lead our trips
- Prior experience of trekking in major trekking routes or tours in major touristic areas in Nepal
- Basic computer skills including email, and MS Office suite.
- You’ll also have amazing customer service skills, with some experience in budgeting.
What you need to know:
- This is a freelance contract position
- We are recruiting leaders in June with Leader’s training commencing from July onwards
- With extended hours, lots of walking and activities, and engaging with travelers, it’s important that you are prepared both mentally and physically for the challenge!
- You’ll need the ability to travel and spend time away from home, as our leaders often travel for extensive periods at a time, and some tours can span up to four weeks.
