General Manager, Italy
Ready to shape the future of sustainable travel in Italy? We’re searching for a General Manager to lead our next chapter in one of the world’s most iconic destinations. This is a brand-new role, based in Rome (hybrid: 2–3 days per week in the office), and an exciting moment to step in and shape the future of a relatively new but ambitious team. You’ll have the chance to drive growth, inspire your people, and deliver exceptional experiences for travellers while strengthening Intrepid’s reputation as Italy’s leading sustainable adventure operator.
What the role involves:
As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading all aspects of Intrepid’s Italian operations. That means:
- Run the day-to-day business while setting the long-term strategy for growth and profitability.
- Lead a passionate team on the ground to deliver outstanding trips and strengthen Intrepid’s reputation in Italy through partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
- Drive sales growth by delivering high-quality product, deepening customer loyalty, and securing new commercial opportunities.
- Own financial performance in Italy, with oversight of budgets, forecasts, and P&L to ensure ambitious but achievable targets are met.
- Play an active role in the EMEA General Management team, collaborating with peers across Europe and reporting into the Regional General Manager, West Europe.
Some of the experience you’ll bring with you may include:
- Senior leadership experience in operations, ideally within tourism or a DMC in Italy.
- Strong knowledge of Italian ground operations, supplier management, and compliance.
- Proven financial and commercial skills, with responsibility for budgets, P&L, and growth planning.
- Track record of delivering results – driving sales, profitability, and operational performance.
- Significant people leadership and change management experience.
- Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships locally and globally.
- Native Italian speaker with excellent English skills, both written & verbal.
- Legal right to work in Italy.
